Labor Day Weekend...

The kids were busy doing other things so the husband and I spent a little quality time together this weekend. We went downtown, had a quick salad at the mall, did a little shopping...ok a lot of shopping : ), walked on the canal, rode the paddle boats, walked around downtown and visited the zoo. The husbands a work-acholic so its rare that we ever do anything like this but as it turns out he said it was a very relaxing weekend for him. Trust me when I say "IT'S ABOUT TIME"!

Catching My Breath...

WOW! This month is flying by, where has the time gone. It's been a crazy busy month, I hope you all are enjoying the Fall as much as I have been. I've been trying to have some fun with the Grandbabies since I'll be away Halloween weekend.

I visited the Apple Orchard with my Grandson's class this month.
He found out that he loves raspberries.
We took a trip to the Pumpkin Patch!

We went to Zoo Boo!

Took my Grandson to the Children's Museum Haunted House today...
No pictures allowed inside! What?

I had a sleepover with AM and another with Jayna this month and I've been working on my Me Album, I've got alot of things done for it, just not an actual page completed to share. I need to get some pictures together and I still have about half of the alphabet to go before I have my journaling completed. The class ended at the beginning of the month but I hope to have my album completed soon.

PAWC #1...

A few post back I talked about challenging myself to do a page a week. I'm a simple scrapper so this should be pretty easy. Here is my first page, the one that has been laying on my desk for a month now unassembled. Ahkiok passed away 4 days after our annual Zoo visit. I posted about this back in June. This picture of him laying on the falls totally relaxed is one of my favorites.

Zoo-Boo 08...

Yeah---We all got together sooner than I thought we could for a little Fall fun. We visited the Zoo for Zoo-Boo. Great weather (it actually got a little too warm) and great fun. Lots to see and do for all. Decorations, a few different characters, trick or treating, pumpkin smashing by the Elephants and pumpkin bowling just to name a few. I did notice that the animals were alot more active than in May when we do our annual Zoo visit. I guess they like the Fall better too!

Little JMad (her celebrity name) as per Mommy. She slept thur it all!

JMad's Bat Mommy-She loves to have fun and be silly!

AM and the By the Sea display. My Favorite display! Love the water animals!

The seals were so playful. Here's the trio doing a little singing!

Pumpkin smashing by the Elephants! Did you know they eat pumpkin? I didn't!

AM doing a little pumpkin bowling. Yes! It's a STRIKE! As you can see I'm no photographer when it comes to action shots! Any suggestions?

The Koalas and the Kodiak 08...

The Koalas were the reason we waited a week for our Annual Zoo Trip. They were very cute but not active at all (they do sleep 18 hours a day) and the display wasn't all that great. There were just a couple of trees for them to sit in and they were separated by a glass wall, enclosed in glass and there were some bright lights that put a terrible glare on the glass. Seemed strange but I'm sure there was a reason for it being this way. Anyway I could only get a picture of one of them as the other one was pretty much facing the back wall of the display. So here it is...

If you look closely you can see his eyes open.
This only happened for a brief moment and I managed to
get a decent picture of it. Isn't it CUTE?

The Koalas Are Here...

Our Annual Zoo Trip was planned last Friday, instead we decided to wait a week so that we could see the Queensland Koalas. Aren't they adorable? They say that the Koalas sleep like 18 hours a day. They have feeding times twice a day, once at 10 AM and again at 3PM. We are planning to get there early, hoping that the crowd will be smaller so that we can get a good look at the Adorable Duo. I have added a clip from the Zoo website that tells a little about them.

An adorable duo will be the talk of the town this summer, delighting Indianapolis Zoo visitors and bringing a bit of the “down under” to Central Indiana. But they’re not permanent residents, so everyone is encouraged to “love ‘em before they leave!”
Two Queensland koalas, native to Australia and on loan from the San Diego Zoo, star at the Indianapolis Zoo, 1200 West Washington Street, beginning Memorial Day weekend, as “Koala presented by Citizens Gas” opens to the public May 24. This very special, limited-time exhibit runs through September 1, 2008. It brings a unique brand of Aussie magic to a new generation of Zoo visitors who may not have been around the last time koalas visited Indianapolis in 1994 (or the time before that, in 1986).
The two koalas are too young to fly alone, so their keeper from San Diego will accompany them, making certain they settle right in to their new exhibit at the Zoo. The young koalas will spend lots of time chilling out on their perches and munching eucalyptus leaves, eliciting lots of “oohs and aahs” from their adoring public.
