Smell...

The lilacs are blooming and they smell absolutely wonderful. I wish there was a way to make this a scratch and sniff so you all could smell them too. Our lilacs are doing great this year, it been a few years since they have looked this good. Aren't they beautiful?

Arbor Day...

We spent most of the day cleaning up the yard, planting flowers and the husband made sure to get a tree to plant with our Grandson. He was so excited and he stuck right with Paw-paw being sure not to miss out on anything. We thought it would be nice to have a flowering tree in the yard, so the husband chose a Bradford Pear. I'm not sure when we will actually see it flower so I may have to do a little research on the matter.

Hello Blog World...

Lazy Blogger here. I've finally gotten rid of that nasty cold. After one Dr. appt, a z-pack, 1 sick day from work, umpteen kleenex and quite a few sleepless nights. With that said, I do have some mighty good news.
My sweet daughter and son-in-law had all us parents over for dinner last Saturday to let us know the sex of the baby. They are having an adorable baby girl. Her name will be Jayna Madison. Now I know she will be adorable because you should have seen my girl when she was a baby. I'm sure the son-in-law was a cute baby also. I'm gonna have to take a look at some of his baby pictures. Plus if you go to http://www.fortyweex.blogspot.com/ you can take a look at some Buddha belly pictures and ultra sound pictures. Now I think they should show dad's face on there sooner or later. Don't you?
Some more good news. My grandson went to Kindergarten round-up today. He will be starting school, full-time towards the end of summer. I can't believe this is happening already. Time sure flies. He is also going to be playing football. He is one tough little guy, I'm sure he will enjoy this and Paw-paw and I will enjoy watching.

I Hate Colds...

Really, how many times can a person blow his/her nose in a 24 hour period? All week I've know that the husband would be working this week-end and that I was going to have my Grandson on Friday night and part of Satuday. I was thinking that I'd get all my work and errands done on Satuday and I'd have Sunday to myself to do whatever . I felt this cold coming on Tuesday and by Friday it had gotten worse. I kept my Grandson on Friday night (with a lecture from the husband) and took him to the mall and lunch on Satuday. I managed to get my work and errands done on Satuday even though this cold was kicking my butt. Now Sunday has rolled around and this cold has taken over and I don't feel like doing much of anything. So much for doing whatever. Tomorrow I have a Dr. appt. and I'm hoping she can give me something to help out this cold. The Tylenol, cough medicine and cough drops just aren't really helping much.

Woo-Hoo. Lots of exciting things are going to happen in September and although I don't want the time to hurry by, I can hardly wait.

Back In The Day...

I found this here and thought it would be a good share:

THOSE BORN 1920-1979
First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they were pregnant. They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can, and weren’t tested for diabetes. Then after that trauma, we were put to sleep on our tummies in baby cribs covered with bright colored lead-based paints. We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, doors, or cabinets and when we rode our bikes, we had no helmets, not to mention, the risks we took hitchhiking. As infants & children, we would ride in cars with no car seats, booster seats, seat belts, or air bags. Riding in the back of a pick up on a warm day was always a special treat.
We drank water from the garden hose and NOT from a bottle. We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and NO ONE actually died from this. We ate cupcakes, white bread, and real butter and drank Kool-Aid made with sugar, but we weren't overweight because, WE WERE ALWAYS OUTSIDE PLAYING! We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on. No one was able to reach us all day, and we were OK.
We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then ride down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem. We did not have PlayStations, Nintendo's, X-boxes, no video games at all, no 150 channels on cable, no video movies or DVD's, no surround-sound or CD's, no cell phones, no personal computers, no Internet or chat rooms ... WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them!
We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones, and teeth and there were no lawsuits from these accidents. We ate worms and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever. We were given BB guns for our 10th birthdays, made up games with sticks and tennis balls and, although we were told it would happen, we did not poke out very many eyes. We rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just walked in and talked to them!
Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn't had to learn to deal with disappointment. Imagine that!
The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law!
These generations have produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers, and inventors ever! The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas. We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned HOW TO DEAL WITH IT ALL!
If YOU are one of them ... CONGRATULATIONS! You might want to share this with others who have had the luck to grow up as kids, before the lawyers and the government regulated so much of our lives for our own good . While you are at it, forward it to your kids so they will know how brave (and lucky) their parents were.
Kind of makes you want to run through the house with scissors, doesn't it?!

The Next Time Is Near...

Keith Urban is coming to town and" Woo-Hoo" we will be going and taking our Grandson with us. He loves to listen to Keith Urban music. I'm sure my husband is sick of hearing him by now but I'm stuck on his music at the present time. Love It! He's also easy on the eyes IYKWIM. We also like Kenny Chesney, so we will be getting a twofer. This is going to be an awesome concert as they are both great entertainers. Our tickets are ordered and we've seen the seating chart, but the stadium isn't complete yet, so we''ll just have to wait and see how close we are to the stage. Hopefully the little guy will enjoy himself and I'm hoping we'll be able to snap a few pictures.

I Can Make You Thin...

No not me. But this guy says he can. Take a look. I've been watching him for 3 weeks and I've lost a couple of pounds that I've been trying to get rid of for awhile . He may be just what you need if you've been trying to lose a few pounds and haven't had any luck. Now this is not a diet, just another way of eating the things you like to eat. Some of his ideas seem a little strange but you'll never know if you don't give it a try. Take a look and let me know what you think.
